B-Boys Victor and Phil Wizard Battling for Gold
B-Boy Victor is the main favorite to win the gold medal at the 2024 Olympics. The American breakdancer is a +115 favorite, the No. 1 reason being that he’s the winner of the dancing contest at the 2023 WDSF World Breaking Championship.
The Florida native is also a two-time winner of Red Bull BC One, which is considered the most prestigious annual breaking competition. The second time he won it was two years ago when we saw him beat Phil Wizard on the road to the title.
In the previous edition of the competition, he didn’t take part in the knockout phase. Instead, it was Phil Wizard who dominated the 2023 Red Bull BC One before losing to Kim Hong-Yul a.k.a. Hong 10 in the final.
Can Hong 10 Stage Another Upset?
Hong 10 is a 40-year-old break dancer from South Korea who won the Red Bull-organized competition last fall. However, in the eyes of bookies, he’s not seen as a serious candidate for the gold medal. He’s priced at +3000.
Another B-Boy who’s seen as a major underdog but who we think might do well in Paris is Sun Chen a.k.a. Quake. Representing Taiwan, he got a ticket to the Olympics through the qualifications process in Budapest and Shanghai.
He didn’t do too great in the qualifiers but that’s all because of a foot injury that was bothering him at the time. Quake’s fitness issues are gone, so we think he might do better than expected at the Olympics.
2024 Olympics: Men’s Breaking B-Boys Gold Prediction
Breaking is a new addition to the sports betting offer of major online sportsbooks, so we really don’t have too big of an idea of how often surprises happen. However, we think no major surprises will happen at the Olympic breaking competition.
We think that B-Boy Victor is the main favorite for a reason. In practically every tournament he’s taken part in the last couple of years, he was the one to walk away with the gold medal. Our prediction is that the same will happen at the Olympics.
