Our Top Favorites for 2025 Black’s Tire 200
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Rockingham Speedway has just returned to the calendar after a 12-year break. The last time around – in 2023 – the race was won by Kyle Larson.
This guy won’t be driving a NASCAR truck in Rockingham on April 18; otherwise, he’d be the No. 1 betting favorite.
With Larson out of picture, Corey Heim is expected to be in the spotlight. This driver is sitting in the No. 1 position in the Craftsman Truck Series Drivers’ Championship with two wins in 2025.
In his most recent race, he finished third. This happened in Bristol last weekend, where the roster was much tougher than this time around. Larson, for example, competed there and finished a spot above Heim.
The man who won last weekend’s race is Chandler Smith, who’s one of the top favorites for the Rockingham race. He was brilliant in Bristol, leading 127 of the 250 laps, which is why we expect big things from him in the next race.
How Will Kyle Larson’s Replacement Sammy Smith Do at Rockingham?
Motorsports legend Kyle Larson is the No. 1 favorite to win the Trucks Series race on Good Friday. He’s taken part in two races of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this season.
The first of those – Baptist Health 200 at Homestead-Miami – was the one he won. His second race of the 2025 Truck Series was last weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, where he finished second.
He won’t get another chance to win a Truck Series race in 2025 because he and his team have decided that his No. 1 focus from now on should be the NASCAR Cup Series.
Instead of Larson, Sammy Smith will be behind the wheel of No. 07 Silverado. This guy competes full-time in Xfinity Series, with just five starts in the Truck Series.
He never won a race in this competition, with his best finish being the No. 5 place at 2024 Wright Brand 250. Knowing this, we really don’t expect much from this guy on Good Friday. We do, however, predict that Kyle Larson’s replacement will finish in the Top 10.
2025 Black’s Tire 200 Prediction
We were impressed by Chandler Smith in Bristol, where he put one of the best performances of his career. Our prediction is that he’ll continue to impress, which is why he’s our top pick for the 2025 Black’s Tire 200.
Pick: Chandler Smith
