Abacus to Integrate Lottery with Fujitsu’s U-SCAN POS Solution

A new integration partnership with Fujitsu Frontech North America will see supplier of lottery software and technology Abacus utilize Fujitsu U-SCAN self-service to deliver its Lottery Services to retail customers.
Boosting POS Lottery Sales
The integration of Abacus’ Fusion platform with Fujitsu U-SCAN technology will facilitate Abacus’ Lottery Everywhere service across retail customers, boosting the platform’s capabilities to bring retailers, lottery and gaming vendors together, uniting them via seamless lottery play options at the point of sale (POS).
“The partnership with Fujitsu and their U-SCAN software allows us to offer retailers the Abacus managed lottery services in a simple and effective way,” said Simon Butler, chief executive officer of Abacus, pointing to the ease and speed with which retailers would be able to “realize increased sales and broader, more integrated way of selling lottery to their customers.”
The Abacus Fusion platform will free retailers from the need to create cumbersome integrations with gaming operators and install dedicated terminals, simplifying the entire process of deployment and engagement.
In addition to the Fujitsu U-SCAN suite of products, the integration will be available via the Abacus Lottery App to allow retailers to utilize every self-checkout for lottery sales and increase their basket size of lottery products and revenue.
Positioning Fujitsu Frontech as the leader in the digital transformation of retail technology, president and chief executive officer of Fujitsu Frontech North America Shuhei Oyake, outlined that the company is offering its customers “simplified self-service options designed to be used in any store environment.”
“Through our partnership with Abacus, we are excited to be able to offer our retail customers a quick and simple way to introduce lottery, everywhere,” Oyake continued, noting that the U-SCAN suite of products will help retailers increase revenue while boosting self-service options for retail customers.
Self-Service Checkout Expertise
Considered nowadays a consumer expectation in most retail environments, self-service checkout is an area where Fujitsu has been playing a leading role for the past 20 years, bringing innovation via its U-SCAN hardware and software to help self-checkout evolution.
A modern and flexible platform capable of operating on both Fujitsu and third-party self-checkout environments, the U-SCAN suite of products empowers retailers with functionalities and operational efficiency to help them boost performance and enhance the level of compatibility of the self-service checkout channel. It is part of Fujitsu’s S3 Self-Service Simplified retail hardware and software technology solution.
Based in the UK and the Netherlands, Abacus is also an associate member of the World Lottery Association and the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL).
