Reasons Why Champions League Odds Favor Arsenal
At the moment of writing this Arsenal vs. Real Madrid preview, the Gunners are favored by bookies with odds of +120. They’re not odds-on favorites, but the fact that they have shorter odds than Los Blancos means that oddsmakers have faith in them.
There are several reasons behind that, starting with the fact that the game is played in London. At Emirates Stadium, these guys are without a single loss in the Champions League since 2017.
In the 2024-25 Champions League season, they have four wins at home, along with one draw. The draw in question, however, happened in the previous round when we saw them play 2:2 with PSV.
Truth be told, the game wasn’t too important for the Gunners as they had a 7:1 lead from the first game. Plus, they were without several important players in that game.
The good news is that a couple of them are back. The bad news is that Arsenal will still miss Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Riccardo Calafiori.
Can Real Madrid Upset the Odds on April 8?
Real Madrid has a chance to win three titles this season – La Liga, Copa del Ray, and Champions League. These guys have been in phenomenal form throughout this entire campaign, which really isn’t that surprising given how good their roster is.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti has at least one world-class player for every position on the field. Real Madrid’s biggest stars, however, are those from the attacking department – Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Jr.
All three of them are in good shape right now, but some of their teammates will miss the April 8 game. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will probably sit out the Arsenal game due to a muscle injury. Further, defenders Eder Militao, Daniel Carvajal, and Ferland Mendy are expected to miss the UCL game as well.
Arsenal vs. Real Madrid Prediction
Los Blancos didn’t impress in the previous round of the Championship when they played against their city rivals, Atletico. Atleti put on a good defensive performance, which caused serious problems for Real Madrid’s attackers. This time around, we think they’re going to do better.
But we also think Arsenal’s offensive players will have a good day on April 8. Sure, the Gunners will miss a couple of important strikers, but against Real’s decimated defense, they should do okay.
That said, both teams to score is our top pick for this game. What about the match-winner? We think anything can happen, but right now, a tie looks like the most likely outcome.
