The Atlanta United vs. Inter Miami odds favor the home team but given that Lionel Messi is likely to start for the visitors, we suspect the oddsmakers might be wrong.
Plus, the boys from Florida have been in fine form even with Messi on the field. But they will miss some important players on Sunday, most importantly, their goalkeeper, Oscar Ustari.

Atlanta United Favored by Bookies
Atlanta United’s odds are +129 right now, suggesting that oddsmakers think these guys are more likely to win than Inter Miami.
This may be surprising given that their recent form hasn’t been great. They’re 1-1-1 in the 2025 MLS, with zero goals scored in their last two games. This is kind of strange given that they’ve got Miguel Almiron and many other decent forwards on the roster.
On the bright side for the Georgia-based team, they have a relatively good record against Inter Miami. In fact, they defeated them in their last two duels, both of which happened last year.
Lionel Messi to Start for Inter Miami
Messi missed Inter Miami’s last two MLS games not because of injury but because coach Xavier Mascherano wants to keep him fit and healthy.
He was meant to play at least 10-15 minutes against Charlotte last weekend, but there was a change of plans after Inter’s goalie got sent off. Oscar Ustari got a red card in the first half, so the Herons had to play with 10 men.
Because of that, Ustari will miss the Atlanta vs. Miami game on Sunday, with backup goalkeeper Rocco Novo Rios set to take his place.
The 22-year-old is a backup for a reason – he just isn’t anywhere as good as Ustari, which could mean huge problems for the Herons.
Atlanta United vs. Inter Miami Prediction
This just has to be a high-scoring affair. Atlanta United’s offense didn’t look sharp in the last two games, but they should do fine against Inter Miami’s backup goalkeeper. This, however, doesn’t mean they’re going to beat the Herons.
The thing is that Inter Miami have Lionel Messi back and this guy can destroy any MLS team on his own.
