Bologna vs. AC Milan is the 2025 Coppa Italia Final. The clash for the trophy will take place at Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Wednesday, May 14.

Bologna is in the Coppa Italia Final for the first time in over 50 years. It was in 1974 when we saw the Red and Blues win the trophy after beating Palermo on penalties. Can they win it again? Not if you’re asking AC Milan players, for whom this is the only chance to win silverware this season.

Bologna’s Biggest Game in Half a Century
Bologna used to be a real heavyweight of Italian soccer, especially before World War II. In the second half of the 20th century, their biggest success was winning the Italian Cup in 1974. Since then, the club has struggled even dropping down to Serie C in the 1990s.
But since Canadian businessman Joey Saputo (of the CF Montreal fame) bought the club in 2014, things have started looking better for the boys from Emilia-Romagna.

If the players are doing well on the pitch it's also thanks to everyone behind the scenes who make it possible.

They made a comeback to the Italian Serie A in 2015, while in 2024, they finished 5th, thus qualifying for the Champions League for the first time since this competition was formed. And now, they have a chance to pull off their biggest achievement in decades.
So, can they beat AC Milan on May 14? Well, they did it once this year already – they beat the boys from Milano 2:1 in a Serie A game in February.
AC Milan’s Chance to Salvage the Season
As things currently stand, AC Milan will probably finish the Serie A campaign below European spots. Rossoneri are already out of the Champions League – knocked out by Feyenoord in February – meaning that the only way to win a trophy is to beat Bologna in the 2025 Italian Cup Final.
Another reason to go all-in on May 14 is that a win in the Coppa Italia would book them a spot in the Europa League next season. This way, the 2024-25 season wouldn’t be thought of as a disaster by the fans.
Judging by the Coppa Italia 2025 odds, they’re likely to pull it off. It’s no surprise that they’re seen as favorites as they did really well in the Cup so far. Unlike Bologna, who had a relatively easy road to the Final (played against Monza, Atalanta, and Empoli), AC Milan had to beat some real heavyweights to get there.
After destroying Sassuolo 6:1, they beat AC Roma 3:1. Then, in the semifinal, they played a doubleheader with Inter Milan, who at the time was the No. 1 Coppa Italia favorite. The first leg finished 1:1, but in the second, AC Milan demolished its city rival 3:0.
Bologna vs. AC Milan Prediction
Both teams are super motivated to win the 2025 Coppa Italia, which is why our prediction is that the May 14 game is going to be a real thriller. Both teams are pretty good offensively, so expect plenty of goals. Still, it’s AC Milan who we think will score more in the end.
