Can Brighton Keep on Winning?
Brighton seems to start every season with a brand-new set of players. Some of their pillars from the last season – Pascal Gross, Deniz Undav, etc. – moved away during the summer transfer window. However, the Seagulls find suitable replacements.
In fact, Brighton signed a couple of very good players this summer, most notably, Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle and Mats Wieffer from Feyenoord. These guys played in the first round, but they didn’t do much.
Instead, it’s Brighton’s veterans who put on a show against Everton – Danny Welbeck, James Milner, and others.
Manchester United’s Players Need to Up Their Game
Same as Brighton, Manchester United too started the 2024-25 season with a win. The Red Devils defeated Fulham 1:0, which, let’s face it, isn’t too impressive a result. This goes especially for the fact that the game was played on their turf.
Midfielders Kobbie Mainoo and his 13 years’ older colleague Casemiro were brilliant in that game, the same as Man United’s defense. However, it’s their offense that looked somewhat anemic. But that might be on the coach.
The thing is that Erik ten Haag didn’t put any proper striker in the starting XI. Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo played from the beginning, but these guys are natural wingers. Once he brought a real striker on the field, things changed.
What we’re talking about is ten Haag’s decision to throw Joshua Zirkzee into fire, who’s Manchester United’s most expensive signing of the summer. Zirkzee made his debut that night and it was a debut to remember – he scored the winning goal in the 87th minute of the match.
