Now, sports fans are looking into the future and asking where the upcoming CFP National Championship Game will be hosted. After the CFP saw a dozen teams competing for the first time this season, the host of the 2026 game was confirmed for Miami, Florida.
As announced by multiple media outlets, the 2026 CFP National Championship Game will be hosted at Hard Rock Stadium. The last time the game was hosted in Miami was back in 2021.
Notably, the 2027 CFP National Championship Game will be hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada. The arrival of the game would mark its debut at Allegiant Stadium. The event is expected to attract a range of sports fans and guests of Sin City.
Hosting the Game Requires a Significant Investment
The announcement about the arrival of the National Championship Game to Las Vegas follows a recent approval of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, as announced by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The greenlighted policy allowed the city to host the beloved game, while at the same time designating millions required for the organization.
Upwards of $40 million would be used to facilitate the upcoming National Championship Game in Las Vegas. Out of that total, the initial commitment would be $25 million, while up to $15 million more may also be spent. The aforementioned sum would be required for a range of services and expenses related to the upcoming game, including marketing and advertising, expenses related to ensuring the security of the game, providing sites for practice of the teams and more.
Besides in Las Vegas, the CFP title game is expected to arrive in New Orleans, Louisiana. The city is expected to host the game in 2028.
In other related news, a recent NCAA survey analyzed the participation of student-athletes in betting activities in 2024. The research compared its results to its 2016 edition, uncovering that the participation of athletes on men’s teams in gambling activities recorded a decrease in that period, while women’s participation in gambling was on par.
Notably, the survey highlighted the importance of providing education for the athletes, as well as relevant support and treatment to those affected by gambling harm. Despite the statewide expansion of sports betting, the cases of athletes who admitted to providing inside information knowingly in 2024 were lower when compared to 2004, when research of that type initially started.
