Colorado Seeks to Award Grants for Responsible Gambling Initiatives
The state’s Division of Gaming has opened the applicant process for grants that are funded by the state and aim to advance RG initiatives

The Colorado Division of Gaming has now opened its application process for the state’s Responsible Gaming Grants designed to go to not-for-profit organizations that are running a variety of projects focused on responsible gambling and gambling harm minimization.
The goal is to use state funding to protect consumers, raise awareness about best practices, and help highlight the dangers of gambling, as well as equip gamblers with the means necessary to overcome dependency on betting and gaming.
Responsible Gambling Grants Call for Proposals Is Open
Overall, the grants seek to leverage a multi-pronged approach whereby the programs will support addiction treatment, helplines, education programs, counseling, advocacy and research.
Director of the Colorado Division of Gaming Christopher Schroder has welcomed the opportunity to see another round of grants applied for and said that the commission was prepared and ready to support any meaningful and impactful project that seeks to promote responsible gambling in the Centennial state.
“This responsible gaming grant program shows Colorado’s continued dedication to responsible gaming while maintaining integrity for Colorado Gaming,” Schroder said.
The Division of Gaming is determining which companies are best fit for receiving funds and sponsorship from the state to advance responsible gambling and problem gambling causes and initiatives.
All applicants now have until December 1 to submit their bids, and the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission will announce the grant recipients by February 25.
Colorado’s sports gambling results continue to surge, and the state is increasingly worried about the implications for problem gambling, and whether the rates of reckless spending are increasing.
Colorado is one of the pioneers when it comes to protecting consumers. The Centennial State is similarly looking to possibly collect more tax from gambling firms, with Proposition JJ now on the ballot, with voters to decide if the draft law should pass.
Applicants Must Make Sure They Have the Resources to Carry On
Colorado expects the sports gambling sector in the state to continue to develop well and grow, which has raised the question of whether the state should not get a bigger cut out of it. Responsible gambling is only one of the areas where the extra funds can be spent.
In the meantime, applicants for Colorado’s responsible gambling grants may submit their bits. All not-for-profit organizations are welcome, but they must ensure that they have the staffing and resources to attend all required meetings and reporting.
