A lawsuit against a popular gaming and entertainment operator on the Las Vegas Strip was recently tossed after a judge’s decision with prejudice.

Robert Cipriani’s Lawsuit, Dismissed

The case involves Resorts World Las Vegas and its former executive, Scott Sibella. The legal battle was filed in court last year by Robert Cipriani, a gambler/activist/philanthropist as he describes himself on X under the alias Robin Hood 702. In his lawsuit, the man alleged that the recognizable gambling operator conducted business with people with ties to unlawful activities or convictions.

Moreover, Cipriani accused the casino’s former executive of conspiracy related to unlawful gambling and negligence. Amid the allegations, earlier this year, the gaming regulator in Nevada, the Nevada Gaming Control Board, filed a formal complaint against Sibella.

Cipriani also alleged that a gambler at the casino was instructed to intimidate and harass him, after he reported the suspected unlawful actions.

However, Cipriani’s lawsuit was dismissed last week, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The decision to toss the lawsuit came from US District Court Judge Miranda M. Du. Her decision was with prejudice, which effectively means that this is the end of the legal battle as the lawsuit cannot be brought back to court.

The Judge acknowledged that the plaintiff failed to adequately describe how Sibella or Resorts World were responsible for the actions of a gambler at the casino. Judge Du wrote: “Said otherwise, it is not as if the Court merely found some factual allegations lacking but the existing allegations suggest there are other facts out there that would make Cipriani’s claims plausible.”

Sibella’s Defense Praises the Decision, While Cipriani Disagrees

The recent decision was welcomed by one of the two attorneys representing Sibella, John Spilotro. He deemed the legal challenge “meritless,” explaining: “That lawsuit never left the starting grid. The court saw it for what it was.”

Cipriani wasn’t particularly happy with the recently announced court decision, shutting down his lawsuit. “You have to be kidding! Dismissed! What do you mean dismissed,” he wrote on X. What’s more, Cipriani added: “Judge, you promised me a hearing. You won’t allow me a hearing? You didn’t even look at the FBI reports!”

According to the recently dismissed lawsuit, Robert Alexander was the gambler who allegedly threatened Cipriani. Described as a convicted felon, the gambler was among a group of individuals with suspected ties to unlawful activities such as illegal betting, who per Cipriani’s lawsuit were “welcomed” to Resorts World Las Vegas.
