Last weekend, the San Francisco 49ers suffered a 28:18 loss at home in a Super Bowl replay with the Kansas City Chiefs. They want to get back onto the winning track ASAP, which is why you can expect them to take the Week 8 game against the Dallas Cowboys very seriously.

The same goes for the visitors from Texas, who had a bye week last week. They’ve spent that period licking their wounds after a horrible 47:9 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Dallas Cowboys Must Do Better This Time Around

The Dallas Cowboys are 3-3 overall, which isn’t too bad. However, in their most recent game, they got demolished by the Detroit Lions.

Their offense scored just 9 points, with quarterback Dak Prescott throwing for no TDs. To make things even worse, he threw two interceptions. His replacement Cooper Rush also got one of his passes intercepted.

That’s very disappointing, but not as disappointing as the Cowboys defense. They conceded 47 points, which was their worst performance in years. They couldn’t handle Detroit’s passing, or their running game.

The good news is that they’ve had an extra week to work on patching up those defensive holes. The bad news, however, is that in Week 8, they’re playing against a team that’s arguably even better than their previous opponent.

San Francisco 49ers to Bounce Back After the Chiefs Loss

The Niners lost to the Chiefs last weekend even though bookies thought they had a pretty good chance of winning. The visitors from Kansas City beat them 28:18, and that’s mostly due to the Chiefs’ great passing defense.

San Francisco’s quarterback Brock Purdy threw 17-for-31 for 212 yards and no touchdowns, with three of his passes getting intercepted. On the bright side for Purdy, he did manage to score two rushing TDs in that game.

Their running backs didn’t do much, with the Niners’ most productive runner Jordan Mason gaining just 58 yards. To be fair to the guy, he wasn’t at his 100% fitness that evening. In fact, he was doubtful for the game due to injury problems.

When it comes to San Fran’s defense, they did well at stopping QB Patrick Mahomes from doing much passing-wise. Actually, he threw for no TDs and the Niners intercepted two of his passes. However, they couldn’t deal with Kansas City’s running, conceding 4 rushing TDs that evening.

Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers Prediction

The 49ers didn’t do great at rushing defense last weekend, but that shouldn’t worry them much in Week 8 as the Cowboys have horrible running backs. That said, it’s very likely they will stop them from doing too much on October 27.

Plus, we also expect Purdy & Co. to do better passing-wise, which is why we think the 49ers will cover the spread in the end.

Pick: San Francisco -5.5
