In Round of 16, Alexander Zverev beat Cameron Norrie 3-2 after spending more than four hours on the court. After this exhausting match, Zverev was expected to get steamrolled by Carlos Alcaraz. However, the opposite happened.

In the quarterfinal of the 2024 Australian Open, Zverev beat the ATP No.2 in just over three hours, with the final score being 3-1 in sets. The only set he dropped was the third set, which Alcaraz won after a tiebreaker.
