The EGBA published financial data about the performance of its members’ online gaming operation, revealing a 15% growth in total iGaming GGR

The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has published its Annual Activity Report 2025, highlighting some of its achievements in the past 12 months. Among other things, the association recorded increased use of safer gambling tools among consumers in Europe.
The EGBA Recorded Increased Use of Safer Gambling Tools
The report detailed EGBA’s achievements across several areas. Among other things, the association successfully expanded its European Safer Gambling Week initiative to cover a record 26 countries. It added that 195 shareholders participated, reaching a total of 3 million customers.
In addition to that, the EGBA emphasized that a record-breaking number of customers used safer gaming tools. The association clarified that 21 million customers, representing 65% of its member operators’ player base used the mechanics available to them to set limits and shield themselves from harm.
In addition to that, EGBA members sent 67 million sager gaming messages to their players.
In addition to promoting and monitoring the usage of safer gambling tools, the EGBA conducted a second monitoring exercise of its pan-European responsible advertising code. The association also advanced its AML initiatives, organizing a variety of educational workshops.
In the meantime, the EGBA formed strong partnerships with several new operators that joined its ranks. These included Superbet Group, LeoVegas Group, and Sumsub. The association now boasts members across 21 regulated European markets holding a total of 321 licenses.
The Bets Grew and So Did the Proceeds
Additionally, the EGBA published financial data about the performance of its members’ online gaming operation, revealing a 15% growth in total iGaming GGR. In 2024, online operators reported EUR 13.5 billion in revenue, 51% of which came from online casino games. Another 41% of this figure came from online sports betting.
Poker and bingo, on the other hand, represented 4% and 2% of the GGR respectively. Esports and virtual betting had a 1% share each.
The revenue of EGBA members accounted for roughly a third of all online GGR in Europe. In 2024, EGBA members processed 177.7 billion stakes, 31% up year-on-year. The value of all bets reached EUR 215.6 billion, marking an 11% increase.
In 2024, players won EUR 202.1 billion. This data suggests an RTP of 93.7%.
EGBA Is Looking Forward to Licensed Gaming in Finland
Maarten Haijer, the EGBA’s secretary general, applauded the results, saying that 2024 was a significant year for the association.
It was a significant year for EGBA: our membership expanded, we hosted a record-breaking European Safer Gambling Week that reached over 3 million citizens with safety messages, and we provided input into many important policy discussions.
Maarten Haijer, secretary general, EGBA
Haijer added that he is looking forward to seeing further developments in Finland, which is inching closer to abandoning its gambling monopoly model and switching to a multi-licensing framework.
