Black Cube has reiterated its claims against Evolution, saying that it will present more evidence, if needed. Evolution, however, believes that this claim is just an attempt to shift attention from the identity of the mysterious report commissioner.
The Legal Battle Has Been Running for Years
In 2021, an anonymous company compiled a damning report, alleging misconduct from Evolution and accusing the company of operating in markets prohibited by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
The New Jersey DGE eventually investigated the matter but couldn’t find any evidence backing the claims made by the anonymous accuser. As a result, Evolution launched lengthy legal proceedings, seeking the identity of the author of the report.
Law firm Calcagni & Kanefsky assisted Evolution’s unknown adversary, helping it to remain anonymous for a while. However, Evolution just succeeded in unmasking the author of the report, revealing it to be Black Cube, an Israeli intelligence specialist.
Black Cube Stood by Its Report
Black Cube eventually responded to the matter, standing by its earlier claims that Evolution engaged in misconduct. In its official response, the firm accused Evolution of misrepresenting facts before the court.
Black Cube emphasized that it has since “gathered new and material evidence that directly contradicts Evolution’s claims.” It promised to submit this evidence and prove its point.
Black Cube concluded that it will not be silenced by attempts to discredit its investigative work.
Evolution, however, was not impressed.
Black Cube Is Allegedly Shifting Focus Away from the Real Issue
Evolution responded to Black Cube’s statement, reasserting its insistence that Black Cube had filed a “false and defamatory report” with the intent to harm its business.
As reported by the gaming news outlet NEXT.io, the Evolution spokesperson pointed out that Black Cube’s report had already been dismissed by two separate regulators, as well as the New Jersey courts. The spokesperson also asserted that Black Cube must face accountability for its damaging report.
The New Jersey Supreme Court has ruled that Black Cube cannot hide behind its lawyers and must face accountability for its unlawful conduct.
Evolution spokesperson
The spokesperson implied that Black Cube is trying to shift focus away from the identity of the client who commissioned the report. The identity of the person or firm who commissioned Black Cube to compile the report remains unknown. Calcagni & Kanefsky recently said that they don’t know the identity of the commissioner either – a claim that was firmly rejected by Evolution.
