Ex-Mansion CEO Mañasco Faces Arrest After Failing to Appear in Court

Mañasco, who was originally set to be sentenced on April 9, is now set to be sentenced on May 14 instead

Karel Mañasco, the ex-chief executive officer of Mansion Gibraltar, is in hot water after failing to appear in court. The local authorities have now issued a warrant for Mañasco’s arrest, hoping to bring him to justice.

The Former Mansion Group Executive Failed to Appear in Court

Mañasco, 44, was originally set to be sentenced on Wednesday last week. However, the CEO of the now-defunct casino operator Mansion Gibraltar did not appear in court. Instead, his lawyer filed a recusal application, alleging that the judge had been biased against Mañasco.

According to a report by local news outlet GBC News, Mañasco’s lawyer argued that Chief Justice Anthony Dudley had been biased throughout the proceedings. The lawyer insisted that Dudley should step down from the trial.

The recusal application went further, accusing Mansion, the Isolas law firm, ex-minister Albert Isola, and the Regulatory Authority of “colluding against him.” According to GBC, Mañasco compared himself to David who is fighting against Goliath.

The news outlet was not spared either as Mañasco insisted that GBC had previously published biased reports that failed to consider his side of the story.

Mañasco Says He Is Innocent

Mañasco, for context, is the former chief executive officer and chief financial officer of the Mansion Gibraltar iGaming operator. However, he was eventually accused of a variety of misdemeanors.

Mansion Group is now suing Mañasco and accusing him of appropriating company funds. During his time as CEO and CFO of Mansion Gibraltar, Mañasco is said to have misappropriated a staggering $6.6 million. Mañasco, however, has denied these allegations.

Earlier this year, the Supreme Court in Gibraltar found the ex-CEO guilty on several contempt applications. Mañasco was accused of having exceeded his personal spending limits imposed by the court. To make matters worse, he submitted a false affidavit that didn’t properly describe his expenses.

In addition to that, Mañasco also violated worldwide freezing orders and transferred frozen funds into his wife’s Spanish bank account. He was also found guilty of using bank accounts, which the court didn’t approve.

In response, Mañasco said that this was due to him misunderstanding the court orders – a claim that Dudley has firmly rejected.

Mañasco, who was originally set to be sentenced on April 9, is now set to be sentenced on May 14 instead.

Casino.com and MansionCasino.com officially closed on October 26.
