Reasons Why March Madness Odds Favor Florida Gators

The Gators have had a pretty successful season so far, which is why they’re the No. 4 team in the nation right now. They had a 17-4 record against SEC opponents and went 16-0 in non-conference games.

Their biggest strength throughout this campaign has been their team play. The Gators have shown the world that they’re more than the sum of their individual parts, with four players having a double-figure PPG – Walter Clayton Jr. (17.7), Alijah Martin (14.6), Will Richard (13.5), and Alex Condon (10.9).

They’re third in the nation when it comes to scoring with 85.5 points per game on average. Defensively, they rank third in the SEC, allowing an average of 69.4 points per game and holding opponents to 39.9% shooting.

Why are Texas Tech Red Riders Seen as Elite Eight Underdogs?

The Red Raiders booked a spot in the Elite Eight after a nerve-wracking 85-83 overtime win against Arkansas, overcoming a 16-point deficit.

Darrion Williams was the man of the moment, tying the game with a three-pointer in regulation and scoring the game-winner in overtime.

It was a super-tense game, which is what not many fans expected. The Red Raiders entered the game as 5.5-point favorites, so the fact that they only won after overtime means that they somewhat failed the expectations.

This explains why March Madness odds are against them. However, we don’t think they should be underestimated. They’re great when it comes to three-point shooting, with multiple players shooting over 40% from deep, most notably, Darrion Williams and Chance McMillian.

They also have a fantastic playmaker in Elijah Hawkins, who’s the Big 12 assists leader with 6.5 APG.

Florida vs. Texas Tech Prediction

Our prediction is that Florida will win this game, but it won’t be a walk in the park for the Gators.

Instead, we expect the Red Raiders to give them a real war on Saturday, making the game more tense than what the betting odds are suggesting. Therefore, we think the best bet for this game is Texas Tech +6.5.

Pick: Texas Tech +6.5
