Visitors to Richmond, British Columbia, are in for a treat after the opening of Canada’s first Gordon Ramsay Steak restaurant. The premium gaming, entertainment and hospitality venue, River Rock Casino Resort, is the home of the newest dining outlet that promises exceptional experiences.

A glamorous ceremony celebrated the Grand Opening of Chef Ramsay’s first fine dining restaurant in the country. The celebrations included a ribbon-cutting ceremony as well as a party that saw approximately 200 VIP guests experience an unforgettable evening.

Chef Ramsay was accompanied by the Canadian soccer legend, Christine Sinclair, and Matthew Anfinson, Great Canadian Entertainment’s CEO. Right after the ribbon cutting the multi-Michelin-starred chef received a Team Canada soccer jersey along with a scarf of the newly launched Vancouver Rise women’s soccer team of the Northern Super League.

Sinclair shared her excitement revealing: “I am a very proud Canadian. My Canadian roots, my Vancouver roots run deep.” The Canadian soccer legend went on to thank Chef Ramsay for selecting the Richmond area for his first fine dining restaurant. “Welcome to the lower mainland of BC,” Sinclair added.

Speaking during the recent ceremony, Ramsay explained that 85% of the ingredients used by the new restaurant are sourced locally. The world-famous Chef’s announcement saw a resounding applause. Recognizing that sourcing such many products locally is rare, Ramsay added: “I fell in love with Richmond and Vancouver BC over 20 years ago, and this whole area blew my mind. So, on behalf of the entire Gordon Ramsay team, from Vegas to London to Richmond, it’s very special to be here, and now it’s my turn to help continue this legacy and respect the ground it’s been built on.”

Chef Ramsay spoke about the importance of collaborating with team members, including waiters, back-of-house and front-of-house employees and other workers that play a key role in making a dream come true. “Chefs depend on their brigades, we’re only as good as our brigades, so thank you,” he added.

Great Canadian Entertainment’s Collaboration with Chef Ramsay Dates Back to 2023

It was back in December 2023 when Great Canadian Vancouver saw the opening of Gordon Ramsay Burger, a more casual dining outlet. However, Great Canadian Entertainment retained its focus on collaborating with Chef Ramsay and those efforts culminated with the recent opening of Gordon Ramsay Steak at River Rock Casino Resort.

Addressing the initial effort, Anfinson said that Great Canadian thought at the time that it could give it a try and see if Gordon Ramsay would be interested in opening a new restaurant. This was undoubtedly a successful move as guests and visitors at River Rock Casino Resort can now tap into unforgettable dining experiences.
