Ian Machado Garry Wants to Get Back on the Winning Track
Ian Machado Garry is 15-1 overall, with his only loss happening in his most recent fight. This happened in December when he lost to Shavkat Rakhmonov by decision after five rounds of intense fighting.
Machado Garry landed more significant strikes, as well as made more submission attempts than his opponent. However, he lost that fight because his rival did better wrestling-wise.
This shouldn’t worry him much in the UFC Kansas City fight as his opponent prefers striking battles. Luckily for the Irishman, he loves such fights, the evidence being that he’s already defeated many excellent strikers – Daniel Rodriguez, Geoff Neal, Song Kenan, Michael Page, and others.
Carlos Prates Ready for War on April 26
Carlos Prates is 21-6 overall with 16 wins by knockout/technical knockout. He won each of his last 10 fights by KO/TKO. He’s a hell of a striker who lands over 4.0 significant strikes a minute (similarly to Machado Garry), but unlike his next opponent, he also gets hit a lot.
Luckily for Prates, he’s got a chin made of steel. The evidence of this is that he’s only lost twice by KO/TKO – the most recent of those losses happened back in 2017.
He’s ready for war in Kansas City, as a win over Machado Garry would get him into the spotlight. Okay, it probably wouldn’t make him a title contender, but it would definitely put him in line for a title fight sometime in the future.
Ian Machado Garry vs. Carlos Prates Prediction
We’re certain that this is going to be a real banger. In fact, our prediction is that Machado Garry vs. Prates will win the Fight of the Night bonus on April 26. But who’s going to win this fight?
It’s really a coin toss, but if we had to pick one, we’d go with Prates. The main reason is that this guy won his last 10 fights by KO/TKO. He might not do the same this time around, but we do think he’s going to win.
Pick: Carlos Prates
