ICRG Gets $500K from San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, G2E

The International Center for Responsible Gaming continues to elicit strong contributions from the gambling industry with the latest donation totaling $500,000 in the latest funding round

Having proved the efficiency of its work and core mission, the International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG) is continuing to raise contributions from the gambling industry to advance research in better understanding of the reasons behind gambling disorders and gambling-related problems.

ICRG Continues to Elicit Strong Support from Stakeholders

The focus has long been on prevention and elaborating more efficient ways in which to prevent gambling addiction in the first place. The American Gaming Association recently pioneered the so-called Responsible Gaming Intervention Effectiveness Scale (RG-IES) a seminal tool that seeks to gauge the efficiency of responsible gambling messages by licensed operators in the United States.

These donations come as the AGA reports that the industry is now contributing an estimated $471.8 million annually as of 2023, and up from $275 million in 2017.

Speaking of AGA’s commitment to making the sector safer, and more focused on responsible gambling, the trade group has recently teamed up with its homologues in Europe and the United Kingdom, the European Casino Association and the Betting and Gaming Council respectively.

Commenting on the contributions enjoyed by the ICRG in the latest round of industry-sponsored donations and presented during the 25th ICRG Conference on Gambling Addiction, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians offered the center $300,000 in additional funds, along with a $200,000 check from the Global Gaming Expo.

The funds for G2E’s contributions were raised at the 25th Annual AGEM & American Gaming Association Golf Classic and is the latest contribution by the event which has totaled more than $2.8 million in contributions to gambling addiction.

“These significant contributions from JCM Global and the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians greatly enhance our ability to continue important research and education on gambling disorder,” said ICRG president Art Paikowsky who expressed his gratitude to stakeholders for contributing the funds to help address and mitigate gambling-related harm. The donations were granted as part of two individual ceremonies.

The G2E check presentation was attended by JCM SVP of Sales, Marketing & Operations Dave Kubajak, AGEM President and CEO Daron Dorsey, AGA SVP of strategic communications Joe Maloney, and ICRG senior fundraiser Joshua Belkin.

The donation by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians was attended by many tribal representatives, including Shawnna Nason, Nicole Scott, Jessica Stops, Joseph Maarango, Jacob Coin, Alberto Jasso, and Thomas LeMasters.
