IGT’s PlaySports Platform Powers FanDuel’s Sportsbook App
The global leader in gaming, International Game Technology (IGT) announced on Wednesday this week that its PlaySports platform is powering the recently launched FanDuel Sportsbook mobile app in Virginia. The two companies joined forces with an ultimate goal to deliver industry-leading sports betting services.
Virginia became the 9th U.S. state, where sports fans can enjoy FanDuel’s Sportsbook mobile app that is powered by IGT PlaySports’s platform. So far, FanDuel’s Sportsbook app is available in Iowa, New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Tennessee, Illinois, Colorado, and most recently, Virginia.
IGT has been a platform provider for several FanDuel sportsbooks across the U.S. since 2018. Furthermore, the company powered the largest volume retail sportsbook in the country – Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment in New Jersey.
Last year in August, IGT’s collaboration with FanDuel expanded. Under a multi-year agreement, IGT became FanDuel’s exclusive retail platform provider for the entire U.S. market. Furthermore, FanDuel also named IGT a principal iGaming content supplier.
Management of the Two Companies Share Their Excitement
In a statement, Enrico Drago, IGT PlayDigital senior vice president said that the company is proud to have helped FanDuel build the “player-preferred sports betting solution” in the U.S. market. Furthermore, he added that with the help of the PlaySports platform, FanDuel receives access to new market opportunities.
Besides in Virginia, earlier this week, IGT also helped FanDuel’s sports betting and iGaming expansion in Michigan. Besides powering FanDuel’s Sportsbook mobile app in Michigan, IGT also launched its PlayCasino games for online players in Michigan via FanDuel Casino. As a result, players can now enjoy titles such as Fortune Coin, Cleopatra, Game King, and IGT Blackjack.
Niall Connell, senior vice president, general manager FanDuel Sportsbook said that the company is excited to continue expanding its geographical and operational footprint with the launch of legal sports betting in Virginia. Furthermore, he stressed that state-by-state launches have individualized requirements and it is mandatory to have an experienced partner such as IGT.
