Will Inter Miami Bounce Back on June 1?

Inter Miami is arguably the best team in the 2024 MLS. It’s mainly because the Herons have Lionel Messi on the roster, who’s considered the greatest soccer player in history. Apart from Messi, they also have Luis Suarez on the team, along with Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Robert Taylor, and many other talented players.

This is why it’s no surprise that Inter Miami is sitting at the very top of the 2024 MLS Eastern Conference table with a 10-4-3 record. What’s interesting is that two of the three losses the Herons have suffered this year happened when Messi wasn’t in the starting lineup.

The third loss happened with him on the pitch for the full 90 minutes. The defeat in question happened on Wednesday at Chase Stadium against Atlanta United. The visitors from Georgia beat the Herons 3-1, with Messi being the scorer of Inter Miami’s only goal.

So, what happened there? It seems that Atlanta United realized that Inter Miami isn’t great defensively, so they went all-in on the offense. They created 22 goal attempts, three of which resulted in a goal. Will St. Louis City use the same strategy on June 1?

St. Louis City’s Players to Attack With All They’ve Got

The 2024 hasn’t been a very good season for St. Louis City. These guys are 3-7-4 overall, coming to Florida after three straight losses in the league. The reason why we think they’re not doing great is that their offense hasn’t been as great as last year.

Sure, they’ve scored 20 goals so far, which isn’t bad, but with players like Joao Klauss and Eduard Lowen, they definitely look capable of doing better. As a reminder, Klauss scored 10 goals last year despite missing several months with an injury. Lowen scored 6 goals last year and made 13 assists.

Obviously, these guys can do better in the final third, which is what we actually expected them to do in the remainder of the season. But can they score some goals against Inter Miami?

Inter Miami needs to win this, but we don’t think this is going to be an easy game. It’s because we think St. Louis City will fight back. As a result, we should see a lot of goals on Saturday evening, probably more than four in total.
