Las Vegas Strip Amazes With Huge Tourist Numbers and Unexpected Stats
In 2024, hotels along the Las Vegas Strip achieved an impressive 86.4% occupancy rate, a notable feat given the availability of more than 85,000 rooms

Las Vegas keeps impressing people not only with its bright lights and fancy places but also with the huge amount of activity on its most well-known road — The Las Vegas Strip. In 2024, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) reported that 41.7 million people visited the city. A big part of these visitors went to the 4.5-mile street that is still the main spot for tourism in the city.
Las Vegas Strip Hotels Near Capacity as Tourists Spend Big in 2024
Las Vegas Strip hotels enjoyed an 86.4% occupancy rate last year. With over 85,000 rooms up for grabs, this level of demand stands out. Tourists did not hold back on spending either — the Strip raked in $21.8 billion in 2024, with gambling accounting for $8.8 billion of that total, reported the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Beyond the big-picture economics, the daily operations and unique details of the Las Vegas Strip tell a tale of constant action. Fontainebleau Las Vegas, which opened in December 2023, gave over 1.6 million drinks to gamblers and poured 90,000 espresso martinis in just 14 months. The place also set off 330 pounds of confetti at its LIV Nightclub, showing the flashy nature of Las Vegas nightlife.
Food and drink remain key parts of the Las Vegas experience. At the Cosmopolitan’s Wicked Spoon Buffet, chefs make 540 eggs during each breakfast or brunch shift. Meanwhile, Lavo at Palazzo has served more than 245,000 one-pound meatballs since it opened, according to statistics recently published by the Las Vegas Weekly.
Las Vegas Strip Dazzles with Immersive Shows, Shark Tanks, and Record-Breaking Crowds
The Strip’s entertainment scene operates on a stunning scale. The Sphere, a massive venue covered with 11,520 LED-lit triangles, has changed the game for immersive shows. At Bellagio, Cirque du Soleil‘s “O” has given 12,000 performances, drawing more than 20 million viewers. The show’s water stage is impressive on its own, featuring 14 underwater technicians and 26 submerged speakers.
The Strip boasts an incredible array of attractions. Mandalay Bay‘s 11-acre beach contains 2,700 tons of sand, and its Shark Reef Aquarium houses 140 different species, including 14 types of sharks. Allegiant Stadium, situated just off the Strip, drew 657,000 fans to major concerts in 2024, topping all US stadiums in ticket sales.
After the COVID-19 slump in 2020, tourism has bounced back. The LVCVA reports that the city now draws over 40 million visitors each year. This growth comes from strong convention turnout — 6 million in 2024 — and busy airport traffic, with 58.4 million passengers at Harry Reid International.
The Las Vegas Strip still stands out for its size and shows. Visitors can jump from The Strat, drink bubbly at Tao spots (they opened 30,000 bottles in 2024), or marvel at the 2,491 gems on one Absinthe shoe.
