Los Angeles Chargers Playing Good Football Right Now
The Chargers finished the regular season with 11 wins and 6 losses, which was a better record than the Texans. However, the LA team entered the postseason as the No. 5 seed, while Houston was the No. 4. The reason for this was that the Texans won their division (AFC South).
The Chargers just stood no chance to win their (AFC West), with the Kansas Chiefs playing the way they’ve been this season. But this doesn’t mean Jim Harbaugh’s boys weren’t great in the regular season. On the contrary, they were superb; they just had a nasty schedule.
Let by QB Justin Herbert, their offense had some problems mid-season, but they’ve entered a fantastic run just at the perfect time. The Chargers won their last three games, with Herbert & Co. producing 108 points along the way.
It’s a huge improvement, but what’s really impressive is that the Chargers have the best defense in the league. They’re conceding just 17.7 points per game. In comparison, the Texans are allowing 21.9.
Does the Houston Texans Adventure End on Saturday?
The Houston Texans cruised through the regular season to win the divisional title with a 10-7 record. They actually secured the AFC South title two weeks before the end of the season because their divisional rivals were horrible.
They had an easy job in the regular season, but the task they have on their hands in the Wild Card game on Saturday looks very challenging. Their offense, led by second-year QB C.J. Stroud, is 19th in the NFL with 21.9 points per game.
To give him credit, the QB has been pretty good throughout the season, but we’re not sure whether he’s good enough to outsmart the league’s best defense. What about the other way around – can Houston’s defense stop Herbert and the Chargers’ offense?
They might do well, actually. These guys are very good at passing defense. They’re 6th in the league when it comes to opponents passing yards per game, allowing 201.0.
Los Angeles Chargers vs. Houston Texans Wild Card Prediction
We predict that this game will see two defensive teams shine. They’re going to keep the score count low, so the winner will probably win by no more than a touchdown. But who will it be?
Even though the Texans are playing on their turf, we think the visitors are more likely to win. The Chargers are great defensively, and their quarterback really is a wild card who can win the game on his own if needed.
