Neither Olympique Marseille nor Atalanta has ever won the Europa League or its predecessor, the UEFA Cup. L’OM did reach the final on three occasions, while the boys from Bergamo never reached this stage of the competition.
Both teams would love to win the 2024 Europa League as it would turn their season into a very successful campaign.

Olympique Marseille Putting Hopes in the Power of Velodrome
Olympique Marseille is famous for having passionate supporters, which explains why this team has lost only one home game this entire season in all competitions. It happened a few weeks ago against mighty PSG, which is one of the top favorites to win the Champions League.
When it comes to their performances at home in the Europa League, l’OM won all but one game at Velodrome this season. The game in question is the one with Brighton in the group phase which finished in a 2-2 tie.
Since the start of the knockout phase, Marseille has a 100% record at home, with wins over Shakhtar Donetsk, Villarreal, and Benfica.
Atalanta Has Been a Real Giant-Slayer in 2024
Atalanta has been in brilliant form lately and these guys want to cash in on that. It all started with a shocking 3-0 win over Liverpool, after which they went on to win another three games, draw one, and lose one. The loss in question happened in the rematch with Liverpool, but given that it was a 1-0 loss, Atlanta made it to the semis of the Europa League.
During this amazing run, Atalanta also qualified for the final of the Italian Cup, as well as came very close to challenging for a spot in the Serie A that would take them to the Champions League next season. This team’s been great offensively, failing to score a goal in only three games in 2023.
Marseille vs. Atalanta Prediction
Atalanta’s modus operandi this season is to attack whenever possible. These guys aren’t coming to Marseille to defend, which is why we think they’ll score at least a goal on Thursday. If that happens, Marseille will have no other option but to fight back even harder, which should lead to a few more goals.
This is going to be an exciting game, with plenty of goals on both ends, but we think that at the end of 90 minutes, the home team will be the one to celebrate.
