Missouri Player Wins $1M from Powerball as Jackpot Hits $100M Milestone

A Powerball player in Missouri has become the state’s latest millionaire after winning a seven-figure prize from the game. If they had only matched one more number, they could have won the game’s $87 million jackpot.

Missouri Man Won Big

The Monday Powerball drawing started the new week with a bang as yet another player succeeded in matching five white numbers to win a seven-figure prize. This time, the winner was a ticket holder in Missouri who won $1 million after matching the five white balls for the drawing.

For context, the winning numbers for the drawing that took place on April 20 were 9, 17, 36, 47, 64, plus the red Powerball 26. Matching all of these would have meant an $87 million payday, or $39.7 million, if a hypothetical winner had selected the one-time lump-sum option rather than the annuity.

In addition to the lucky Missourian, a whopping ten players won the game’s third-tier prize. Five of them thus secured themselves prizes of $50,000 each, while the remaining five won $150,000 each instead, thanks to Power Play and the 3x multiplier.

Since no one won the jackpot, it continued to grow and has now reached the $100 million milestone. A hypothetical winner would be able to either pick the annuity for the full sum, or the one-time lump-sum payment for $45.6 million.

Saturday Drawing Awarded Two $1M Prizes

In the meantime, the Saturday Powerball drawing awarded Match 5 prizes to two separate players. Since neither of them had Power Play active, both will take home $1 million.

The most recent Powerball jackpot was won earlier this month by a player in Delaware who got a $231 million prize. That drawing also awarded a $2 million Power Play prize to a lucky Texan.

Elsewhere, Britain prepares to join the fun as Allwyn announced that the UK will be launching its own Powerball game. Brits will therefore get the chance to participate and compete with American players for the same jackpot.
