Neil Magny vs. Carlos Prates is the main event of UFC Fight Night 247, and we think it’s going to be a real banger. Magny is 29-12 overall with plenty of weapons in his arsenal; Prates is a knockout artist who’s 20-6 overall with 15 wins by KO/TKO.
Neil Magny vs. Carlos Prates Odds
Moneyline | Odds |

When, Where, and How to Watch?

Neil Magny Fighting His Third Fight of 2024
Neil Magny has 41 pro MMA fights in his portfolio, along with four exhibition fights. Obviously, this guy lives and breathes mixed martial arts, another evidence of which is that he’s fought three fights per year since 2021.
His third fight of 2024 is on the program on November 9, when he’s supposed to clash with Carlos Prates. Judging by the UFC Fight Night 247 odds, Magny is in trouble this time. He’s a +550 underdog, the main reason being that he tends to do bad against prolific strikers such as Prates.
In his most recent fight, he lost by TKO to Michael Morales, who had a 68.75% win-to-knockout ratio. Prates’ current percentage is 75%.
Reasons Why Carlos Prates Is Such a Huge Favorite
Carlos Prates is 20-6 overall, which doesn’t seem too great, but he’s got all wins in his last 10 fights. The best thing is that this guy has fought against some really tricky opponents during that period, most notably, Jingliang Li, in August. He beat the Chinese fighter by a KO in the second round.
Prates is now fighting Magny, who’s famous for being a tough nut to crack. However, given that this is the main event with five rounds, it’s the younger fighter who we suspect has better cardio.
Even though Prates has never fought a 5-rounder, he’s six years younger than Magny, which could play an important role in their clash this coming Saturday.
Neil Magny vs. Carlos Prates Prediction
The UFC Fight Night 247 is Carlos Prates’ ticket to the Top 15 in the Welterweight Rankings. How high he will climb depends on the way he wins. That’s why we predict that he’s going to aim for an early finish. Given that five of his last 10 wins happened in Round 1, we think the same might happen on November 9.
