New England Patriots vs. New York Jets Week 3 Odds, Time, and Prediction
New England Patriots vs. New York Jets is the Thursday Night Football game of Week 3. The TNF game is on the program on September 19 at MetLife Stadium, the home ground of the Jets

Both teams are 1-1 in the 2024 NFL, but it’s the New York Jets who have much more to look forward to. Last weekend, they got their first-ever win with Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback. They defeated the Tennessee Titans on the road and are now coming to MetLife Stadium to play their first home game of the season. On Thursday night, they’ll welcome the New England Patriots, who are coming off a disappointing overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Foxborough.

New England Patriots Looking (Surprisingly) Good
The Patriots were expected to have a horrible season but so far, they’ve been doing alright. Their new coach Jerod Mayo made his debut at the helm of the Pats with a 16:10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on the road. They were 7.5-point favorites ahead of that game but still ended up winning.
Their defense did a great job, the best evidence being that Cincy’s QB Joe Burrow didn’t throw for a single touchdown that evening. In fact, the only TD the Pats conceded in Week 1 was a rushing TD.
The Pats also did great defensively in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks. Their offense, however, could’ve done better. Placekicker Joey Slye, for example, missed a crucial field goal that would probably win the game for the Pats. To be fair to the man, the attempt was from 48 yards.
Unfortunately for him, not too long after that, the Seahawks scored a field goal, taking the game to overtime, where they did the same again and won the game.
New York Jets Want Even More from Rodgers
After losing 32:19 to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1, the New York Jets got their first win in the Aaron Rodgers era last Sunday. They defeated the Tennessee Titans 24:17. The Jets’ quarterback had a fantastic game, going 18-for-30 for 176 yards and two touchdowns, with no interceptions.
What’s interesting is that both of his TD passes were caught by running backs. Breece Hall caught one, while the other one was caught by the NFL’s youngest player, Braelon Allen. Not only did the 20-year-old score a passing TD, but he also got one by running the ball over the line.
The Jets also did a fine job defensively, even getting one interception. Still, that’s not too big of an achievement given that they played against the Titans. If they wish to beat the Patriots, they’ll need to play even better.
New England Patriots vs. New York Jets Prediction
We think the New York Jets have started a run no one is going to end anytime soon. They have a relatively easy schedule ahead and they want to get the most out of it. This is why we expect them to take every game seriously, starting with the TNF one. Our prediction is that they’re going to win, covering the spread along the way.
Pick: New York Jets -6.5
