New Jersey Voters Back a Limit on Gambling Ads
The poll clarified that a potential restriction on the volume of ads was backed by Democratic, Republican and independent voters alike

New Jerseyans seem to be in favor of a limit on gambling ads in the state, according to a recent poll. Even if the Garden State is one of the friendlies to the gaming industry, many locals are ready to embrace stricter restrictions.
Voters Are Fed up with the Ads
According to the findings of a recent poll conducted by Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU), many New Jerseyans have become fed up with the ubiquitous gambling ads in the state. The number of ads has skyrocketed in recent years, especially since the repeal of the PASPA and the advent of online casinos.
Betting, in particular, has swept up America and is now legal in dozens of states. As a result, it is almost impossible to watch TV or go online and not see a betting ad. The FDU poll discovered that many people in New Jersey believe that this is excessive.
According to the study, a staggering 76% of respondents said they would back a limit on gambling ads. Both men and women from all walks of life seemed to be on the same opinion, highlighting that this was a fairly popular stance.
The poll clarified that a potential restriction on the volume of ads was backed by Democratic, Republican and independent voters alike. In addition to that, voters from all ethnicities and age groups agreed that ads are getting out of hand.
Dan Cassino, executive director of the FDU poll, commented on the matter, saying that the bipartisan support for a limit on ads shows that New Jerseyans have had enough.
Even the groups most likely to take part in gambling, like young men, seem to be fed up with all of the ads.

New Jersey Is Considering Higher Taxes, Tighter Policies
In the meantime, New Jersey recently considered banning public colleges and universities from penning deals with betting companies. Assembly Bill 4113 defined sports wagering partnerships as a “partnership or contractual agreement between a sports wagering operator or intermediary and a public institution of higher education” and appealed for a ban amid growing youth gambling concerns.
On a different legislative vote, Lawmakers in the Garden State remained divided on a proposed gambling tax hike. New Jersey is still one of the most industry-friendly states in terms of taxes but certain lawmakers believe that it is missing out on potentially millions in taxes. These discussions are being further fueled by recent tax hikes across the United States and beyond.
In other news, a separate study by JAMA Psychiatry just suggested links between alcohol and sports betting problems. Analysts concluded that there was an association between the trajectories of sports gambling frequency and alcohol-related problems, meaning that people experiencing increasing gambling problems would also experience more severe alcohol consumption-related issues. Experts therefore recommended screening and treatment interventions for sports bettors who are also drinkers.
