New Jersey’s March Gaming Revenue Increased, Driven by iGaming

Whereas casino gaming declined, iGaming soared, highlighting the online sector's popularity and potential

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has published a report outlining the financial performance of its gaming industry in March. The data shows that iGaming continues to surpass traditional casino gaming despite the Garden State’s long-standing reputation as a casino hub.

The Total Gaming Revenue Marked a Modest Increase

The total gaming revenue reported by New Jersey’s casinos, racetracks, and their partners, stood at $546.1 million for March 2025. This figure reflects growth of 3.7%, attesting to the continued strength of the New Jersey gaming sector. For comparison, New Jersey’s gaming entities reported total revenue of $526.6 million for the prior year period.

On a year-to-date basis, the total gaming revenue stood at $1.5 billion, which translates to a 2.5% growth from $1.55 billion in the prior year-to-date period.

In March, New Jersey’s gambling operators paid $59.8 million in taxes. On a year-to-date basis, the total gross revenue taxes reached $175.2 million.

The Casinos Posted Mixed Results

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement specified that the casino win of Atlantic City’s nine casino hotels stood at $230.9 million for March 2025. This, unfortunately, reflected a slowdown of 3.7% when compared to $239.8 million reported for March 2024.

The year-to-date results likewise highlighted a decline, with YTD casino win dropping 1.8% to $644.4 million.

The Borgata and Hard Rock dominated the sector, reporting $58.4 million and $44.5 million in March casino respectively, and YTD total casino win of $168.6 million and $124.4 million respectively. Ocean Casino Resort took the third spot with $34.7 million in March casino win and $102 million in YTD total casino win.

iGaming Continued to Grow

Whereas casino gaming declined, iGaming soared. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement said that casinos and their partners reported $243.9 million in internet casino win for March 2025, which reflected a staggering growth of 23.7% when compared to $193.2 million reported for March 2024.

On a year-to-date basis, internet gaming win increased from $562.8 million in the prior YTD period to $673.3 million. This marked an increase of 19.6%.

The top performers in March included Golden Nugget, Borgata, and Resorts World with $74.5 million, $58.1 million, and $56.5 million in total internet gaming win for the month. Their YTD results stood at $205 million, $164.5 million, and $155.4 million respectively.

Sports Betting Declined

Finally, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement reported $71.3 million in sports wagering gross revenue for March, down 20.5% year-on-year. Last March, the local betting industry reported revenue of $89.7 million.

The year-to-date shows that sports wagering gross revenue decreased from $328 million in the prior YTD period to $267.1 million for the current one. This reflected a decrease of 18.67%.

In terms of betting, the New Meadowlands racetrack was the clear winner with $23.4 million in monthly online sports wagering gross revenue and $110.4 million in YTD online sports wagering revenue.
