Nigeria vs. Ivory Coast 2024 AFCON Semifinal Odds, Time, and Prediction
It’s time for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations Final, in which Nigeria will battle Ivory Coast for the trophy. The game is played at Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in the capital of Ivory Coast, Abidjan, on Sunday, February 11

Ivory Coast is the host of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is arguably the biggest advantage of this team over Nigeria. However, Nigeria’s form has been much, much more impressive which explains why betting odds favor Super Eagles to win the title.

Reasons Why Nigeria is the 2024 AFCON Betting Favorite
Nigeria has been the most impressive team at the 2024 AFCON. With the exception of their first and their most recent game of the tournament, the Super Eagles won every single match in regulation. Their one in the opening round was a glitch – they drew 1-1 with Equatorial Guinea.
However, they then switched to top gear, winning the next four games in the regular 90 minutes, without conceding a single goal.
In the semifinal, they conceded one goal to South Africa, which is why the game went to extra time and then to penalties. The Super Eagles had luck on their side and ended up winning the penalty shootout 4-2.
It’s kind of surprising that they didn’t manage to beat South Africa in regular time given that their roster is way superior to the one of Bafana Bafana.
It’s their playmakers that should take the blame for this – Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman, and others – because they didn’t do a great job at ensuring a longer ball possession. Nigeria kept the ball in their possession for less than 40% of the game.
Can Home Crowd Push Ivory Coast to the Title?
Les Elephants should count themselves lucky for advancing all the way to the 2024 AFCON Final. The reason is that they’ve been far from impressive on the pitch throughout the tournament.
They did start their campaign with a win over Guinea Bissau but then went on to lose the next two games in their group. One of those was against Nigeria, who beat them 1-0.
In the knockouts, they won one after extra time, one by penalties, and one by 1-0 in regulation. The 1-0 win happened against huge underdog D.R. Congo in the semifinal.
Nigeria vs. Ivory Coast Prediction
If you compare these two national teams, player-for-player, you’ll see that Nigeria is a much better team than Ivory Coast. Les Elephants do have one major advantage in that the tournament is played in their country. They’ll have the crowd on their side, but we don’t think this will matter much.
After all, they’ve already played against Nigeria once at the 2024 AFCON and ended up losing 1-0. We suspect something similar might happen on Sunday.
Pick: Nigeria
