Norsk Tipping Names Tonje Sagstuen Permanent CEO

Norsk Tipping, the Norwegian government-owned gambling company, confirmed changes to its senior-level management this summer. The company unveiled back in August that Tonje Sagstuen, a seasoned executive with extensive experience, will take over the role of acting CEO, effective from September 1, 2023.

At the time, she was appointed to an interim CEO role while Norsk Tipping started the search for a permanent appointment. Sagstuen replaced Thor Gjermund Eriksen, the outgoing CEO who left the company on August 31, 2023.

Now, Norsk Tipping’s board of directors confirmed the appointment of Sagstuen for the role of CEO. Taking over the role as the company’s new managing director, she brings extensive experience after first joining it in 2014. Before her most recent appointment as CEO, Sagstuen served as deputy CEO for the last five years.

Currently, she holds a master’s degree in multimedia management from BI. Moreover, Sagstuen is a trained assistant professor and has a track record in the gaming sector. Before joining Norsk Tipping, she was a part of Oppland Arbeiderblad. Additionally, Sagstuen is a famous handball player for Norway who has participated in 217 matches for the country’s national team.

Sagstuen Is Excited and Humbled to Accept the Important Role

Sharing her excitement, she said that she is grateful for the unique opportunity at Norsk Tipping. What’s more, Sagstuen outlined that it is humbling to take on a role with such responsibility. “Norsk Tipping is a large company that plays an important role for the whole of Norway, and I look forward to leading the work on our important social mission further,” she said in conclusion.

Sylvia Brustad, the company’s chairman, shared the excitement of Sagstuen. She said that it is great to see a seasoned expert fill the role of CEO at Norsk Tipping. Brustad spoke about Sagstuen’s extensive experience and unique skillset, explaining that she also knows the company and its employees well.

“The board has appreciated the work Sagstuen has done as acting managing director and is pleased that she has accepted the position on a permanent basis. We are convinced that Sagstuen is the right person to lead Norsk Tipping going forward.“

Speaking about Sagstuen’s interim role, Brustad acknowledged her contributions. She said that it is exciting to see Sagstuen agree to take the permanent position with Norsk Tipping. Finally, Brustad said that the company is convinced that the new CEO will help propel the growth of the company.
