Orlando City Need to Up Their Game to Stay in the Playoffs
Orlando City have made it to the semifinal of the Eastern Conference, but these guys haven’t been very impressive on the field. In their most recent game, they beat Charlotte only after penalties – that’s the same way they lost to Charlotte in the game before.
Their last win in regulation happened almost a month ago in Game 1 with Charlotte, which they won 2:0 at home. A win is a win, but they weren’t great in that game. They did create plenty of goal chances, but most of them were far from dangerous. That’s why scoring two goals was actually a great achievement.
Defensively, Orlando City have been pretty decent lately, which is somewhat surprising considering that the same wasn’t the case in the regular season. With 50 goals conceded in 34 games, their defense was in the shared 7th place in the East.
Atlanta United Confident They Can Do Anything!
Atlanta United’s players are coming to Florida again. Last time around, they defeated Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami 3:2. It was their second win over the Herons, following a 2:1 win in Georgia. In both of those games, Atlanta hit Miami on the break, destroying the Floridians with their amazing counterattacks.
They also did very well defensively, especially given that they had to play against Messi, but also against Luis Suarez and several other amazing forwards. Atlanta’s veteran goalkeeper Brad Guzan was sensational in those games, stopping the ball from hitting the net on several occasions.
Still, it’s Atlanta’s hard-working midfielders who deserve most credit for advancing to the semis. Bartosz Slisz has been amazing throughout the season, and the same goes for Tristan Muyumba, Aleksey Miranchuk, and others.
Orlando City vs. Atlanta United Prediction
Our prediction is that Atlanta’s coach Rob Valentino will employ a defense-focused tactic for the November 24 game, relying on his pacey forwards for chance creation. Orlando City will be the team with the ball in their possession, but we doubt they’re going to be able to produce much against Atlanta who have Guzan between the sticks.
As a result, the Orlando vs. Atlanta game probably won’t see too many goals (if any) and a draw looks like the most probable scenario.
Pick: Draw & Under 2.5 Goals
