PAGCOR Chief to Receive Special Award at Asia Gaming Awards

Asia Gaming Brief announced that it will provide the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation’s chair and chief executive officer, Alejandro H. Tengco, with a special honorary award that highlights his achievements.

Tengco to Receive a Special Honorary Award

According to the announcement, Tengco will receive a special honorary award at the upcoming Asia Gaming Awards 2025. Set to take place on Match 18, the awards will also celebrate Asian gaming industry frontrunners and innovators.

The new edition of the Asia Gaming Awards will take place during the first main day of the ASEAN Gaming Summit, an industry fair celebrating gaming in Asia. As someone who has played a key role in the transformation of the Philippine gaming industry, Tengco has solidified his position as one of the visionary leaders in Asian gaming.

Tengco was named as the PAGCOR’s chief executive in 2022 and has since leveraged his leadership skills to implement a vast array of strategic reforms. His guidance revitalized Philippine gaming and led to a significant rise in the PAGCOR’s revenue. In 2024 alone, the corporation posted $1.92 billion in revenue, up 41% year-on-year.

The ASEAN Gaming Summit 2025 will allow industry stakeholders to engage with Tengco and other key industry leaders and gain significant insights into Asian gaming. Tengco in particular is set to host his State of the Industry Address tomorrow.

Asia Gaming Awards to Be Held Tomorrow

The Asia Gaming Awards, set to be held tomorrow at the Grand Ballroom of the Shangri-La The Fort in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Manila, will highlight the achievements of gaming companies, affiliates, and providers across multiple sectors.

The main categories will include Land-based, Online, Regulatory, and Industry Voice, each of which will have several separate awards. This year, Asia Gaming Brief, which hosts the ASEAN Gaming Summit and the Asia Gaming Awards, unveiled a number of new categories, including Regulatory Landmark, Reliability in Online Gaming, Compliance Solution, Casino Online Convergence, and Industry Choice awards.

These new awards will reflect the dynamic and changing nature of the gaming industry as a whole.

Asia Gaming Brief recently published the shortlist of participants, revealing several returning competitors, as well as many emerging companies joining the fray. The nominees also include some of last year’s winners, including the likes of Bloomberry Resort, Solaire, Newport World Resort, Aristocrat, Light & Wonder, and Everi.

ASEAN Gaming Summit Kicks Off

The pre-event day of the ASEAN Gaming Summit just kicked off, providing gambling industry experts, leaders, and stakeholders with important networking opportunities. The event will allow gaming companies to learn more about the latest trends, discuss the current challenges, and plan the future of the industry.

One of the main topics of the summit will be the convergence of land-based and online gaming and the use of technology and intelligent systems. Participants will also discuss the role of non-gaming attractions in enhancing integrated resorts’ revenue.
