Patricio Pitbull Coming Back to the Featherweight Division to Defend His Title
Patricio Pitbull is a true legend of Bellator MMA; he’s the current champion in the featherweight division and used to hold the championship belt in the lightweight division as well. He also made an attempt at the Bellator Bantamweight World Championship last year, but Sergio Pettis beat him by unanimous decision.
Since then, he fought one more fight. Pitbull fought a catchweight fight with Chihiro Suzuki at Super Rizin 2 and got KO-ed in the first round. What this means is that he’s on a two-fight losing streak for the first time in his life.
In fact, the last time he won a fight was on New Year’s Eve of 2022 when he beat Kleber Koike Erbst at Bellator MMA vs. Rizin.
Can Jeremy Kennedy Become the Bellator Champion?
Jeremy Kennedy is 19-3-1 overall with plenty of experience fighting elite fighters. A couple of years ago, he fought in the UFC. He won three fights and lost one to Alexander Volkanovski.
Apart from fighting in the UFC, he also fought in the PFL, Brave, and other promotions before joining Bellator MMA in 2020. In this promotion, he’s 4-1, with his only loss happening to Adam Borics by decision.
It was his first loss by decision in his career, but this is the method by which he’s won most of his fights so far. Ten of his 19 wins happened after the final bell.
Patricio Pitbull vs. Jeremy Kennedy Prediction
Patricio Pitbull is one of the best featherweights on the planet and he’s going to show it on Friday. In fact, Sherdog ranks him fifth in this weight class. He hasn’t fought in this division for a while, with his most recent featherweight win happening two years ago.
Since then, however, Pitbull lost two fights, which is why it’s super important for him to beat Kennedy this coming weekend. Otherwise, he’s in trouble as he’s turning 37 in a few months’ time.
