Pennsylvania Approves Grant to Support New Safer Gambling Platform
According to state officials, Almond Digital Health will be the first “digital-first gambling support program” in America
Pennsylvania has agreed to back the launch of a safer gaming platform that will teach people how to play responsibly and help those harmed by gambling. The decision to back the platform comes as online gaming in Pennsylvania continues to experience unprecedented growth.
The General Assembly Has Agreed to Back Almond Digital Health
Pennsylvania’s General Assembly has approved a grant to support the launch of Almond Digital Health – a platform that will provide responsible gambling resources to players in the state. Among other things, it will offer educational materials, safer gaming tools, and treatment service recommendations. All materials will be available in several languages, ensuring that enough players get the help that they need.
According to state officials, Almond Digital Health will be the first “digital-first gambling support program” in America.
The Program Will Expand Access to Safer Gambling Tools
Pennsylvania officials said that the launch of the new statewide program seeks to expand access to safer gaming education and solutions amid the rapid growth of iGaming and online betting. Since Pennsylvania is one of the largest and most active gaming markets in the US, supporters of Almond Digital Health believe that it is paramount to provide players with the tools to stay protected.
Almond Digital Health will be integrated across mobile gaming apps, land-based casinos, sportsbooks, and even universities. As a result, gamers from all walks of life will have ready access to a platform that contains what they need to learn to moderate their gambling or find further help if that isn’t enough.
Almond Digital Health will notably not replace existing safer gaming services and helplines, but complement them. The platform’s rollout will kick off in the next few weeks, officials confirmed.
Notable Representatives Backed the Launch
Rep. Joe McAndrew, one of the main supporters of the platform’s launch, said that the growing accessibility of gambling calls for increased access to support services. He noted that the grant approved by the General Assembly will ensure that Almond Digital Health has the resources needed to meet struggling players’ needs.
Rep. Jim Prokopiak was similarly pleased with the initiative, saying that the grant reflects the state’s practical approach to safer gambling. He was certain that Almond Digital Health’s launch would provide “instant impact” for those struggling with addiction or at risk of developing one.
