Prediction Markets Skeptical of Third Trump Term Despite 2028 Merch
Many agree that Trump is messing with his opponents but some have considered the possibility of him running for office again

US President Donald Trump may be serious about trying to run for office for a third time, after all. While prediction markets remain skeptical that he will be allowed to do so, this didn’t stop The Trump Organization from launching official Trump 2028 merchandise.
Trump Apparel Suggests President Is Eyeing Third Term
The Trump administration has on several occasions suggested that the POTUS might run for a third term, even though the US Constitution forbids it. These intentions have seemingly been cemented with new Trump 2028 merch, now available at The Trump Organization’s online store.
The new apparel sports the typical Republican red or navy blue and includes hats, koozies, and T-shirts with the Trump 2028 logo. The T-shirts also include the slogan “Rewrite the rules.” The description of these items says that “the future looks bright” and invites potential buyers to “rewrite the rules” with this new line of merchandise.
The apparel immediately became a hot topic, although, as of the time of this writing, The Trump Organization has yet to release an official statement on the matter.
Is a Third Term a Real Probability?
Trump himself has previously suggested that he could run for a third term. His comments, which implied that he was merely considering the idea rather than having decided, also pointed out that there are ways to do it, if he wanted to.
The most direct way for Trump to qualify for a third term would be an amendment to Amendment 22, which would require a two-third majority approval in each chamber to pass. Then, at least three-fourths of state legislatures would need to ratify the amendment.
While a long shot, this isn’t completely impossible. An easier way could be if Trump runs for vice president and then has his running mate resign. Or, alternatively, one of Trump’s sons could continue his legacy and run in his stead.
On that matter, US Rep. Andrew Ogles proposed to amend the US Constitution to “provide that no person shall be elected to the office of the president more than three times.” The resolution has yet to advance.
Prediction Markets Still Skeptical
In the meantime, prediction markets show that most people are skeptical that Trump will be allowed to run for a third term. Prediction market exchange Kalshi, for example, gives Trump a 13% chance of being allowed to run again, with “yes” shares costing $0.14 compared to “no” shares at $0.88.
Polymarket bettors, on the other hand, give Trump a 7% chance to announce that he will be running for a third term and only a single percent chance that a bill allowing Trump a third term would pass before June.
On the contrary, prediction markets suggests there is a somewhat high chance of Trump’s second term ending early.
Some Called the New Merch “Master Trolling”
Some have suggested that the new merch is nothing more than a marketing move to stir the pot. Many politicians have so far dismissed Trump’s intentions to run for the presidency again as his way of messing with journalists.
Conservative influencer Alex Stone called the 2028 Trump campaign “master trolling.” He rejected the idea that Trump would truly run again, telling critics to “stop crying.”
