Britain’s Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has published data about the performance of the latest edition of Safer Gambling Week. According to the report, the 2025 iteration of the initiative delivered “record-breaking engagement.”
Hundreds of Thousands of Deposit Limits Were Set
The BGC reported that Safer Gambling Week 2025, which ran from November 17 to 23, saw more people than ever interact with the responsible gambling tools available to them.
According to data analysis of last year’s campaign, Safer Gambling Week saw a staggering 281,000 deposit limits being set by a total of 153,960 different account holders. This marked an impressive 41% increase year-on-year.
The BGC emphasized that this was the fourth year in a row in which the number of unique account holders using at least one safer gambling tool during the length of the campaign increased.
Additionally, the report says that the number of safer gambling messages sent to customers throughout Safer Gambling Week increased to a record-breaking 10.95 million, marking a 75% increase year-on-year. The BGC clarified that the messages reached players in a variety of ways, including pop-ups, DMs, and emails.
Operators’ investment in safer gambling advertising, on the other hand, increased by 68% during the campaign. Online impressions from these ads reached 182 million, up 27% YOY.
In addition to that, the 2025 edition of the campaign secured backing by a record number of senior cross-party MPs and Peers. These included Gambling Minister Baroness Twycross, Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Nigel Huddleston MP, and Shadow Gambling Minister Louie French MP, to name a few.
Hurst Emphasized That Only Legal Gaming Can Deliver Such Results
BGC CEO Grainne Hurst hailed the double-digit increases in responsible gambling tool interaction, deposit limits, and safer gambling messages. She said that these figures demonstrated the positive impact of Safer Gambling Week once again.
These record-breaking figures underline the industry’s ongoing commitment to raising standards and ensuring the millions of people who enjoy a regular flutter do so in a safe and responsible environment.

Hurst emphasized that reliable safer gambling tools are available only in the legal sector. She added that the black market continues to be a growing threat to player safety and encouraged customers to pick the legal alternative.
The BGC added that gambling is enjoyed by roughly 22.5 million adults a month, making safer gambling a major priority. However, protecting vulnerable players from harm remains challenging due to the encroaching illegal gambling sector.
