Terry „TK” Ketterer has prevailed at the recent South Dakota State Poker Championship, defeating a strong lineup of opponents to claim first place. By the end of the tournament, he had increased his lifetime earnings by a whopping $138,000.
TK Dominated the Event
The Main Event of the South Dakota State Poker Championship took place at the Silverado Poker Room in Deadwood, South Dakota. It was a $1,140 buy-in event that saw many poker powerhouses clash for a share of the prize pool. The championship featured $671,000 in prizes, which set a new RPT record.
In total, 671 players clashed for this record-breaking prize, with each of them hoping to go home richer. Ketterer undeniably succeeded in this mission as he dominated the event to win $138,000. TK commanded respect during all days of the tournament, allowing him to return home as a winner boasting the Gunslinger trophy.
TK opened with a huge chip lead in the first days of the event, cementing him as a force to be reckoned with. The final clash saw him defeat Mikiyo Aoki, who took second place with $83,000 in winnings. Lance Schuchard, Alan Curl, and Josh Matti rounded up the top 5 with winnings of $62,000, $46,000, and $35,000, respectively.
The $138,000 TK won marked a new career-best for the player. This was also the largest prize ever awarded in RTP history.

Recreational Player Won USPO Event
In other poker news, a recreational player just made poker history after claiming first place at the recent USPO event. Peter Placey, who is a businessman from California, managed to defeat a list of poker pros, only to face Qinghai Pan, another player with a career outside of poker, in the final round.
Placey wrapped up the event with $224,000 in winnings. Pan, on the other hand, took $144,000.
