Vegas Criminal Who Shot at Police Officer Charged with Attempted Murder
The man was charged with seven counts and faces a potential prison sentence, should he be found guilty

A man believed to be responsible for several crimes has been arrested and charged following a chase and a shootout. While the suspect initially escaped the authorities, he was successfully arrested on the following day.
The Man Evaded the Police at First
J.M., who is an alleged sex offender, has been charged with several counts after trying to escape the Las Vegas authorities. At approximately 10 pm on Friday, officers went to investigate a reported sex assault and kidnapping in Sunrise Manor, Clark County. Instead of facing the authorities, the man ran away.
According to reports, J.M. escaped in a Toyota RAV4 vehicle. A chase ensued.
Desperate to escape, the suspect accelerated and was initially able to escape his pursuers. He was later spotted by officers on patrol and, in an attempt to flee once again, crashed into a palm tree.
This, however, did not stop J.M. either as, despite his wound, he ran out of the car, allegedly firing a shot at one of the officers. The police returned the fire but the culprit managed to escape either way.
While in the foot pursuit, the suspect fired at the officers causing one officer to discharge his firearm. Officers immediately took cover and lost visual of the suspect.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department
Luckily, no police officer was hurt in the shooting.
Despite his intense efforts to flee, the man was arrested on the following day.
Prison Sentence Is Possible
J.M. was rushed to a hospital to have his wounds treated before being detained at the Clark County Detention Center. He remains in custody as of the time of this writing. The man was charged with seven counts and faces a potential prison sentence. His case was handed to local prosecutors.
As for his sexual assault charges, the man is believed to have kidnapped a sex worker whose services he used for approximately a year. According to the allegations, J.M. became angry when she didn’t want to see him anymore. As a result, he stalked her, kidnapped her and sexually assaulted her while threatening to hurt her and her family.
In the meantime, the officer who shot at J.M. has been put on administrative leave while his colleagues review whether he was justified in firing his gun.
