Vitor Petrino vs. Tyson Pedro is the co-main event of UFC on ESPN+ 96, which will take place at UFC Apex in Vegas on Saturday, March 2, 2024

The Vitor Petrino vs. Tyson Pedro light heavyweight fight is going to be a real banger, we’re sure of that! The reasons are numerous, starting with the fact that both fighters have impressive records, with Petrino being an undefeated 10-0 fighter and Pedro having a 10-4 record.
Another reason is that both are great finishers. Each of Pedro’s wins happened by either knockout/technical knockout or submission, while Petrino has a finish rate of 80%.

Vitor Petrino Has Big Plans in the 205lb Division
Born and raised in Brazil, Vitor Petrino started his professional career in 2019 in smaller promotions, but after winning five of his first six fights by KO/TKO, he got a chance to showcase his fighting talent in Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022. He did not disappoint – Petrino beat his DWCS opponent with a KO in round 2.

This brilliant performance earned him a contract with the UFC, and he made his promotional debut in 2023 against Anton Turkalj. It was a real battle that lasted for the full 15 minutes, but Petrino ended up winning the judges’ vote.
Next came the fight with Marcin Prachnio in which we saw that Petrino is a phenomenal grappler as well. He won that fight by submission in the third round. In his most recent fight, Petrino beat Modestas Bukauskas by a knockout in round 2 in what was one of his best performances thus far.
Reasons Why Tyson Pedro Is a +250 Underdog
Tyson Pedro is someone who lives and breathes martial arts. He’s raised by his father who brought MMA to Australia and has been practicing combat sports from an early age. This explains why Pedro has so many weapons in his arsenal – he’s a fantastic striker, as well as an excellent grappler, and is solid when it comes to defending against takedowns.
But he’s sloppy sometimes. In the fight with Bukauskas a year ago, Pedro was incredibly uninspiring, so it was really a surprise that he didn’t get finished. Instead, he lost the fight by decision.
He did put on a much better performance in his last fight. In September, we saw him beat Turkalj by a first-round knockout. However, Turkalj is nowhere near as good as his next opponent. In fact, most of Pedro’s recent wins happened against relatively mediocre fighters – Harry Hunsucker, Ike Villanueva, and Saparbek Safarov.
Vitor Petrino vs. Tyson Pedro Prediction
Tyson Pedro does have an impressive portfolio, but it’s been a while since we last saw him record a win against a big-name fighter. It was 2017 when he beat Paul Craig, but back then, the Scottish fighter was just starting his UFC career.
The same goes for his win over Khalil Rountree Jr., for which he won the Performance of the Night bonus. It happened in 2016 in Rountree’s only second UFC fight.
In 2024, Pedro doesn’t look like someone who can beat an elite opponent. So, the big question is the following – is Vitor Petrino elite?
With a 10-0 record, we sure think so!
Pick: Vitor Petrino
