Woman in Western Illinois Clinches $1M Powerball Jackpot
- The Illinois woman bought the ticket at a shop she frequented
- The store employees with whom she was a friend were happy for her
- First thing to do with the prize? Go to Las Vegas, of course!
Illinois is joining the ranks of states to have recently minted a seven-figure jackpot winner, with one Diana of Carman, scooping a $1-million prize from the Powerball in the Prairie State.

The winner, who posted for the customary photo-op, holding the winning ticket, won the draw on April 29 and won with 3, 19, 35, 51, and 67 as her numbers.
Diana bought her ticket at the Ayerco Convenience Center, located at Highway 34 and Carman Road in Carman, with the shop also now getting a $10,000 bonus, or 1% of the value of the prize.
She was rather happy to chat about the win, too, offering a few words and extra insight into how it all came to be:
“I couldn’t believe it. I picked these numbers randomly,” Diana said, and confirmed that she had won smaller prizes in the past, but this was most certainly the first time she won a million dollars.
Diana recounted the first moments she was coming to grips with her reward, telling a friend what had happened when she first found out.

The friend? They were open to the idea but were obviously a little skeptical: “Come on now, quit playing with me — I’m tired,” the friend said.
Diana did not withhold the win either; she told the people at the Ayerco Convenience Center, with whom she was a friend.
“I’m friends with the staff there, and they were thrilled when they found out I won,” she recounted.
But the winner already has a plan, and she will fittingly celebrate her win by realizing a dream she has had for a while – flying to Vegas and visiting her brother, who is stationed at the Air Force.
